Bengaluru’s Littlest Citizen Writes to PM Modi: ‘Please Help with Traffic’

8/12/2025

Bengaluru is known for many things — its booming IT industry, its lush gardens, its cosmopolitan culture, and unfortunately, its infamous traffic jams. For most residents, navigating the city’s congested roads has become part of daily life, an endless routine of inching forward in bumper-to-bumper lines. But for one 5-year-old, this isn’t just an inconvenience — it’s a problem she believes can be fixed, if only the right person listens.

And so, on a quiet morning in August, little Arya from Bengaluru sat down with a sheet of lined paper, picked up her pencil, and began to write a letter. Her audience? None other than the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi.

A Letter from the Heart

In her careful handwriting, Arya began:

> “Narendra Modi ji, there is lots of traffic. We get late to school and office. The road is very bad. Please help.”

Her message was short, simple, and to the point — but behind those words was the daily frustration felt by millions in India’s technology capital. While adults might write petitions, attend civic meetings, or post complaints on social media, Arya’s approach was refreshingly straightforward: tell the country’s leader directly.

The letter even included her own decorative touches — hearts, stars, flowers, and playful symbols drawn along the bottom of the page — a reminder that while the problem is serious, the messenger is still a child, full of creativity and hope.

Arya signed off with her name, age (“5 years”), and the date: 10 August 2025 — the very day Prime Minister Modi is scheduled to visit Bengaluru for a high-profile programme, including the inauguration of the Yellow Line of Namma Metro and the flagging off of the Vande Bharat Express to Belagavi.
